Work Life Un-Balance

| March 21, 2012 | 3 Comments

Started a new position today and I am excited about my new boss and co-workers. The loveliest woman is my new assistant and the view outside my office was serene. On the home front, I had a near break down. Though I was able to come home to nurse my 6-month-old during lunch, I was only able to pump once today at work. My Ameda Purely Yours pump from baby number 1 is still working its magic!

Coming home to dirty dishes and having to cook dinner and do laundry and manage two sites while reviewing new material for work is a beast!  For a moment I almost allowed the magnitude of my home responsibilities get to me. I want my sister (who is my children’s caretaker) and my husband to just KNOW what to do to help. I realized we need to have a family meeting and I need to clearly communicate my fears and needs so that everyone else can. I prayed (which helped me regain peace) then made squash soup, marinaded salmon for tomorrow, washed dishes, swept, cleaned the kitchen and then nursed the baby.

This will definitely take time and effort to make work.

It gets easier with each passing day :-( Never easy, just more bearable. Thank you for the post, it’s always good to hear someone else feels like you do – makes you feel a little more normal.
